Could Being in Debt be Considered a Modern-Day Slavery?
Modern-day systems deliberately hold us in debt as a form of modern slavery. This system binds people, confuses them, and enslaves them. We think we are free, but if we cannot provide for our families today, we are bound by iron chains. A minus in our bank account completes the enslavement.
Taxes, debts, and payments are tools of control. It might seem manageable — you borrow more money, and life goes on. But this debt-driven system is relatively new. Entire nations now live in a minus, with debts reaching hundreds of billions. When a country’s accounts are frozen, it begs for survival: “I’ll do anything — just give me food!” This is how people and nations are enslaved, trapped in a system with no escape.
Such a situation is yet another outcome of our egoistic development, where we evolve through our growing desires to enjoy at the expense of one another. This development is leading us to a state where we will realize the shortcomings of our egoistic nature and start awakening to the need for a shift in our attitudes to each other: from egoistic to altruistic, exploitative to supportive, and divisive to positively connected. It will be the sole way we will find pleasure and meaning in our lives as we move ahead in our evolution, while the failure to make such an adjustment, trying to continue “business as usual” will lead us to increasing despair and helplessness.
