What Are Some Things You Can Do to Get Rid of Anxious Thoughts?
We can get rid of anxious thoughts by doing actions for others out of necessity.
It is important to note that “for others” does not mean for people who are already naturally close to us, like our family and relatives. Those are indeed people whom we serve out of necessity, but “other people” means strangers whom we feel no direct connection to. By acting toward them, aiming for their benefit, we exercise our intellect and emotions above the place where anxious thoughts find their grip: in the intent for self-benefit.
Everyone has the potential to achieve such a state of acting for the benefit of others, and moreover, it is an obligatory state that the whole of humanity is being led to.
The more we act and think about others, and the more that circle of concern widens, when it encircles the entire planet — the whole of humanity — then our anxious thoughts will dissipate. It is because our anxious thoughts are based on concern for ourselves and those immediately close to us. The more we increase the circle of our concern to encompass others, up to all of humanity, then our anxiety increasingly dissolves as our self-concern becomes replaced with concern for others.
