What Are the Chances of Robots and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Becoming More Advanced Than Humans?
Thanks to digital medicine, we are becoming healthier and living longer. Artificial intelligence is taking over many of our burdensome tasks, from household chores to work functions. If we wish, we can immerse ourselves in virtual worlds or benefit from robots with human-like appearances and adaptive control systems. At the same time, humans are adapting to artificial intelligence through implanted chips, programs, and artificial body parts. As we develop machine technologies, humans themselves are increasingly turning into machines. It raises the question: Will there be any difference between humans and robots?
Indeed, how does a robot differ from an ordinary person in our world who also behaves according to patterns acquired from nature or society? Both operate based on programmed behaviors, whether by external programming or social conditioning. You can create a mechanical being that mimics humanity perfectly, and it would be indistinguishable from a human — until you cut it open and find wires inside.
We can program everything. For instance, I could create a spouse who meets all the parameters of a person, fully embodying the qualities of a woman. But the one thing she would lack is a soul. This is the critical distinction.
Eventually, after a period of exploring and identifying with their mechanical, robotic nature, people will realize that they are no different from machines. This recognition will spark a deep question: “What makes me unique?” This is when we will begin uncovering the existence of something extraordinary within ourselves — a special desire called the “soul.” Although it is currently in an embryonic state, the soul exists in every person. It must be revealed and developed.
In this process, everything else will be taken care of — food will be delivered by drones, and some people might even recharge like machines rather than eat. Yet, the living, breathing human will differ from the artificial one in one fundamental way: they will feel an innate need to correct and realize their soul. This need will arise from the depths of their being, demanding attention and fulfillment.
This journey of discovering the soul is not about playing with toys or superficial distractions. It is a necessary stage in our development. Humanity progresses through four distinct levels of natural development: inanimate, vegetative, animate, and then human. When we reach the human level, we can begin nurturing the soul, which makes us human in the fullest sense of the term (“human” in Hebrew [“Adam”] from the word for “similar” [“Domeh”], coming from the phrase “similar to the Most High” [“Domeh le Elyon”]. Until we start developing this desire we have within us that yearns for a higher degree of fulfillment to everything in our material existence, we remain on the lower levels, unable to tap into our full potential. Developing the soul is the next step in our evolution, and it is what will forever distinguish us from robots and artificial intelligence.
