What if Someone Can Read Your Mind?

When I was next to my teacher, the great Kabbalist Baruch Shalom HaLevi Ashlag (the RABASH), I felt that he could read my mind. I have been asked whether it was frightening or pressuring, and it was nothing of the sort.

It was, however, a little like being next to an X-ray machine. But so what? Kabbalists gain such special abilities because they rise above egoistic calculations, and they use such powers solely in order to guide people’s positive connection to each other with the force of love and bestowal fueling people’s connections.

Enabling people’s positive and loving connections is a Kabbalist’s principal concern since the more we establish such connections, the more we participate in the world’s correction process and come closer to the purpose of our lives: balance with the integral laws of nature.

Kabbalists see a picture of reality beyond our egoistic one, where we aim for self-benefit at every moment of our lives, and wish for the positive connection of the billions of people who live in the world, with the force of love and bestowal dwelling in their connections.

Reading minds only seems frightening if we view the world from an egoistic vantage point. Egoistically, we think that if others can read our minds, then they can use that information against us. However, accessing such abilities emerges if we exit our egos and wish completely for the benefit of others. We then have nothing to hide in this purely altruistic modus operandi, as we possess both protection and power. In such a state, we gain the inner strength to withstand any harm that others might try to inflict on us because we ourselves wish no harm upon anyone.

We should thus understand that if we love more, then we gain more powers. We then increasingly understand how and why nature works the way that it does, unlocking a much clearer world that feels close to us. We reveal such powers precisely when we cannot use such revelations for the detriment of others.
