Why Is Only Positive Thinking Not Enough?

There is a positive thinking approach to life that encourages people to always view the positive side of life and turn a blind eye to the negative.

Such an approach might help people to a certain extent, but we should not erase the negative phenomena that stand in our way as challenges that we need to face. In other words, we should not close our eyes like little kids and pretend that such challenges are nonexistent. By doing so, we set ourselves up to encounter much bigger problems.

On one hand, we should not panic and let our emotions get the better of us. On the other hand, we need to accept responsibility for what is happening in the world. The more we understand that our egoistic approach to others and nature — where we seek self-benefit at others’ expense — is behind every problem in life, then the more we should be willing to seek how to change our egoistic approach to an altruistic one. Then, the more we seek to benefit others and nature above our negative, egoistic, and divisive drives, the more we will balance the negative nature inside us with the positive force of nature that exists outside of us. Such balance is the key to a transition to a harmonious and peaceful world.
